For safety and quiet restored on Rue du Kiem

Subject: Road safety and noise nuisance on the section of Rue du Kiem limited to 30 km/h.

Dear Sir or Madam,

The undersigned, residents and users of Rue du Kiem in Strassen, wish to draw your attention to a problem that keeps worsening: the chronic disregard of the 30 km/h limit on our section, the excessive speeds observed on a daily basis, and the resulting noise nuisance.

Rue du Kiem is a residential axis where many families, children, elderly people and people with reduced mobility live. The current road layout does not encourage compliance with the limit, and the absence of speed-moderation devices leaves the section particularly exposed to dangerous behaviour.

We regularly observe very significant excesses of the authorised speed, noisy acceleration of vehicles and motorised two-wheelers, as well as through traffic crossing our residential neighbourhood. These factors degrade the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, as well as the quiet that residents are legitimately entitled to expect.

We therefore ask the municipality for:

• The implementation of concrete speed-moderation devices (speed cushions, narrowings, chicanes, or any other suitable measure).
• Strengthened speed controls and enforcement of traffic rules on this section.
• An objective evaluation of traffic (counts, speed and noise measurements) shared with residents.
• A formal dialogue with a representative group of residents to co-design solutions.

Our approach is constructive and respectful. We are convinced that an open dialogue between residents and the municipality will help identify balanced solutions ensuring both traffic flow and safety for all.
